Job Description
Tilfi is a design and craft-led luxury brand that produces handcrafted textiles, apparel and art of exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
We are looking for a Product Design Intern who has a strong interest in luxury craft, traditional hand metalwork, and artisanal product development.
This role is suited for a recent graduate or student of Product Design, Industrial Design, Accessory Design, Fine Arts or a related field who is organised, detail-oriented, curious, and keen to gain hands-on experience in taking products from concept to sampling.
Please note that this is a full-time, on-site internship and not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development & Sample Management
- Assist the team in tracking product development timelines, from initial concepts and tech packs to final samples.
- Support ongoing design and product development projects.
- Maintain trackers and documentation for samples, prototypes, orders, and product development.
- Help receive, organise, track, and catalogue incoming samples.
- Coordinate with vendors and artisans for sample follow-ups and updates.
Research & Product Development
- Conduct research on trends, aesthetics, materials, and product categories to support new product ideas.
- Research traditional craft techniques, particularly hand metalwork, and explore their application in contemporary products.
- Assist with developing and refining product concepts.
- Research and identify potential vendors, artisans, and specialised craftspeople
Design & Operations Support
- Assist with day-to-day design and product development activities.
- Support communication and coordination between the design, production, vendors, and other teams.
- Follow up on samples, materials, timelines, and other project requirements.
- Help maintain organised records and ensure smooth execution of ongoing projects.
Who You Are:
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated in Product Design, Industrial Design, Accessory Design, Fine Arts or a related discipline.
- Have a genuine interest in luxury, craftsmanship, traditional techniques, and artisanal products.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good understanding of materials, aesthetics, form, and design.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with CAD, SketchUp, or other 3D modelling software is preferred but not mandatory.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
