What you become a part of :

The incumbent will lead the commercial operations agenda for Shalina’s Consumer Health business, with responsibility for ensuring that business demand is effectively translated into sourcing, procurement, manufacturing and supply plans across markets.

The role will work closely with Commercial, Finance, Marketing and Global Supply Chain to ensure product availability, cost competitiveness, efficient inventory and supply continuity, while managing key supplier and third-party manufacturing relationships.

What to expect :

1. Commercial Planning, Demand and S&OP-

  • Lead commercial planning and translate business plans, market requirements, launches and promotions into demand and supply requirements.
  • Partner with Global Supply Chain on demand forecasting, supply planning and S&OP.
  • Ensure alignment of demand with inventory, production capacity, lead times and market requirements.
  • Monitor supply risks and drive timely resolution across functions and markets.

2. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement-

  • Lead sourcing and procurement of FMCG/ consumer health finished products, containers, packaging materials and other business requirements.
  • Develop sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, availability, lead time and supply continuity.
  • Identify and develop appropriate local and international sourcing opportunities.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers covering pricing, payment terms, MOQs, lead times, service levels and other relevant commercial terms.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization, alternate sourcing and improved supply resilience.

3. Third-Party Manufacturing & Supplier Coordination-

  • strategic relationships with third-party/contract manufacturers and suppliers across relevant markets.
  • Coordinate production plans, capacity, order quantities, lead times and delivery schedules in partnership with Global Supply Chain.
  • Oversee the upstream supply pipeline from order placement and production through shipment and market availability, working with logistics/3PL partners as required.
  • Monitor supplier and manufacturing partner performance and proactively address supply constraints.

4. Commercial & Business Support-

  • Partner with country and regional teams to translate market requirements into effective sourcing and supply solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage regional sourcing, manufacturing and cross-market supply models.
  • Lead and develop teams and work effectively with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing and country teams.
  • Drive a balance between business growth, cost, service levels and supply continuity across markets.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :

  • Forecast Accuracy & Demand Alignment – quality of commercial inputs to the forecasting process and improvement in forecast accuracy in partnership with Global Supply Chain.
  • Supply Availability/ Service Level – timely availability of finished products and packaging to support market requirements.
  • Sourcing Cost Competitiveness – savings delivered through supplier negotiations, sourcing strategies and procurement optimization.
  • Inventory & Working Capital Optimization – efficient inventory levels and working capital in partnership with Global Supply Chain.
  • Supplier & Manufacturing Partner Performance – adherence to agreed cost, quality, production and delivery commitments.
  • Supply Pipeline Effectiveness – timely execution of orders, production, logistics and other upstream activities supporting market availability.
  • S&OP Effectiveness – timely and effective coordination between Commercial and Global Supply Chain to align demand and supply.

Essential education & experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering or a related discipline; MBA desirable.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience across commercial operations, strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain or related functions, preferably within FMCG, Consumer Healthcare, OTC or similar businesses.

Essential skills :

  • Strong experience in sourcing and procurement of finished products, packaging/containers and related materials, with exposure to local and international suppliers.
  • Proven experience managing third-party/ contract manufacturing relationships, including commercial negotiations, production coordination and performance management.
  • Experience in demand planning, forecasting and S&OP, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective sourcing and supply plans.
  • Proven track record in cost optimization, supplier management, inventory management and supply continuity.
  • Experience managing complex commercial negotiations and supplier relationships, including pricing, MOQs, payment terms, lead times and service levels.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, with the ability to balance growth, cost, service levels and supply continuity.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
  • Experience working across multiple markets and with cross-cultural teams, preferably in Africa or other emerging markets.
  • Willingness to travel internationally 30–40% of the time.
