Job Description

• In-depth knowledge of turbine assembly processes (HP, IP, LP turbines, rotors, casings, diaphragms).
• Proficiency in interpretation of assembly drawings, tolerances, and engineering specifications.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools (dial gauges, micrometers, laser alignment, torque tools).
• Understanding of critical fits, shrink fits, mandrel handling, and interference fits in turbine assembly.
• Knowledge of hydraulic tightening, torqueing, and bolt tensioning procedures.
• Awareness of special processes in assembly (heating, cooling, oil flushing, rotor balancing, barring gear trials).
• Familiarity with shop safety practices for heavy components and crane operations.
• Knowledge of welding, NDT, and quality standards relevant to turbine assembly.
 • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting assembly issues and resolving dimensional deviations.

• Plan and monitor day-to-day turbine assembly operations (LP, IP, HP, and Rotor).
• Allocate manpower, tools, and fixtures for efficient execution.
 • Ensure adherence to standard assembly sequences and approved procedures.

• Define and standardize turbine assembly processes, checklists, and SOPs.
• Provide inputs for jigs, fixtures, and special tooling required for assembly.
 • Support introduction of new technologies and digital tools for precision assembly.

• Ensure compliance with quality standards, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Facilitate inspections, measurements, and testing at critical stages.
 • Address NCRs, deviations, and support root cause analysis & corrective actions.

• Monitor availability of components, consumables, and assembly tools.
• Coordinate with supply chain for timely receipt of critical parts.
 • Maintain calibration and functionality of measuring instruments and torque tools.

• Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and QA teams for resolving technical issues.
• Support project managers on timelines, cost, and resource allocation.
 • Liaise with customer representatives during inspections and assembly stages.

• Drive lean initiatives, Kaizen, and waste reduction in assembly operations.
• Suggest and implement process improvements for reducing assembly cycle time.
• Optimize resource usage to reduce costs without compromising quality.
