Job Description – MES Functional Consultant (Automotive Manufacturing) Experience: 10–12 Years Industry: Automotive Manufacturing (2-Wheeler & 4-Wheeler) Domain: MES / MOM, Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 Role Overview We are seeking an experienced MES Functional Consultant with strong automotive manufacturing expertise and hands-on experience in MES/MOM implementations. The candidate should possess deep understanding of vehicle manufacturing processes across Body Shop, Paint Shop, Engine, Transmission, Assembly, Quality, Traceability, Logistics, and Vehicle Dispatch operations for both 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler production environments. Key Responsibilities • Lead business requirement gathering workshops with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, and Manufacturing Engineering teams. • Perform AS-IS / TO-BE process mapping, fit-gap analysis, and functional solution design for MES/MOM programs. • Define functional requirements, user stories, business rules, workflows, and acceptance criteria. • Design and implement MES functionalities covering: o Production Execution o Order Management o Production Planning & Scheduling o Quality Management o Traceability & Genealogy o Andon & Production Monitoring o Labor Tracking o Electronic Work Instructions o Vehicle Tracking & Serialization o Rework & Non-Conformance Management o Vehicle Dispatch & Shipment Authorization • Collaborate with MES developers, architects, and shopfloor teams to ensure successful solution delivery. • Support SIT, UAT, deployment, hypercare, and user training activities. • Drive process standardization and best-practice adoption across manufacturing sites. • Support global rollouts, template development, and multi-plant MES deployments. • Participate in pre-sales, solutioning, effort estimation, demonstrations, and RFP response activities. Automotive Domain Expertise Strong understanding of: • Vehicle Manufacturing Lifecycle • Engine & Transmission Assembly • Body Shop Operations • Paint Shop Processes • Final Vehicle Assembly • End-of-Line Testing • Quality Gates & Checkpoints • VIN Management & Serialization • Parts Traceability & Genealogy • Production Sequencing • Rework & Repair Processes • Yard Management & Vehicle Dispatch • Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence Technical Skills • MES/MOM Platforms (Apriso, Critical Manufacturing, Opcenter, TrakSYS, SAP DMC or similar) • Manufacturing Process Modeling • Requirements Management • Fit-Gap Analysis • Test Scenario & UAT Management • Shopfloor Integration Concepts • ERP Integration (SAP preferred) • Reporting & Manufacturing Analytics • Traceability Solutions • Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory Concepts Preferred Candidate Profile • 10–12 years of MES/MOM consulting experience with at least 5 years in automotive manufacturing. • Hands-on experience in at least one full MES implementation lifecycle. • Strong knowledge of 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler manufacturing operations. • Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers. • Excellent stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and communication skills.
