Overview D443, VIRGINIA Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Instrumentation and Control (I&C) provides engineering support for instrumentation, Deep Submergence Systems – Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC), non-voice interior communication systems, lighting, controllers, and electrical auxiliary systems. Technical responsibilities include the development of numerous VIRGINIA Payload Module (VPM), Subsea and Seabed Warfare (SSW), and VIRGINIA Class system design products. The I&C systems engineering group is responsible for the alarm, monitoring, and safety circuits that transmit data concerning ship systems and equipment conditions to command and control areas.
