Laser Engineering Safety Specialist

A growing deep-tech hardware company is looking for a Laser Engineering Safety Specialist to own laser safety by design across complex laser and optical systems.

You’ll work across the full beam path, designing safety into systems from the architecture stage. You’ll have real influence over containment, interlocks, beam routing and stray-light detection, working closely with laser scientists and engineers to make complex hardware safe by design.

What You’ll Bring

• Hands‑on experience with Class 3B and/or Class 4 laser systems
• Experience engineering laser safety into real hardware, particularly containment, interlocks or hazard analysis
• Background in laser engineering, optical engineering, photonics, physics, electrical engineering or a related field
• Working knowledge of ANSI Z136 or IEC 60825
• Experience with optical power measurement, beam characterisation or stray‑light assessment
• Comfortable working with complex hardware in research or prototype environments
