Summary: 

The Mechanical Engineer II position’s main focus is to perform engineering duties in planning and designing LED lighting fixtures and associated functioning equipment. This position works closely with the rest of the new product design team to deliver a reliable lighting unit and process. This position requires drive and ambition with a strong work ethic and a dedication to working with passion and integrity.

Responsibilities: 

• Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
• Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement procedures, resolve issues, or provide technical information.
• Manage all aspects of mechanical design on new products assigned.
• Create CAD models & drawings for all design components and all assemblies.
• Execute CAD simulations and physical prototype testing to evaluate design risk.
• Validate designs and troubleshoot any problems which occur during validation.
• Complete design documentation.
• Interface with process, production, quality, sales & marketing groups on products assigned.
• Work with design team to develop product ideas and support other design team members on their designs.
• Maintain project schedules and budgets.
• Develop or test models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification.
• Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
• Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems or needs.
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
• Write performance requirements & specifications for product development or engineering projects.
• Coordinate with materials team to track & manage tooling & prototypes.
• Oversee testing and validation of new designs.
• Coordinate product launch with sales & marketing teams. Support in generation of marketing documentation.

Requirements: 

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Must have at least 3 years CAD experience. (Solidworks strongly preferred).
• Must have at least 3 years product design experience.
• Must have basic computer skills/knowledge (MS Office).
• (Preferred) Experience in automotive or aerospace industries is a plus.
