Plant stylist — biophilic interiors

Pravaa · Maharashtra, India

FULL TIMEpermanent

Job Description

About Pravaa

Pravaa is a design-led plantscaping studio based in Mumbai, creating living environments for homes, workplaces and hospitality.

We use nature as a design medium, combining plantscaping, biophilic design and plant science to create spaces that look considered, feel alive and function better.

We don't start with plants. We start with people, space and purpose — understanding how a space is used, its light, interiors, movement and everyday rhythm before deciding what belongs where.

From indoor plantscaping and terraces to vertical gardens, moss installations and ongoing plant care, Pravaa designs, installs and maintains environments where greenery becomes part of the space rather than an afterthought.

About the Role

We're looking for a Plant Stylist who understands that plants can completely change the character of a space.

This is a highly visual, design-led role for someone with an exceptional eye for composition, proportion, colour, texture, materials and interiors.

You will work with the Pravaa design and horticulture teams to translate plants into finished interior compositions — deciding which plant belongs where, what it should sit in, how it should be grouped, how tall it should be, what it should sit next to and how the entire composition should feel.

You will work across homes, workplaces, hospitality spaces and other environments, styling greenery around the existing architecture and interior language.

The role is less about filling a space with plants, and more about making every plant feel like it belongs there.

What You'll Do

01 — Read the Space

Visit client spaces and understand their interior language, architecture, materials, colours and mood Observe how people use the space and what the environment needs to feel like Identify areas where greenery can enhance the experience of the space Understand existing furniture, artwork, lighting, finishes and décor before introducing plants Develop an instinct for what to add — and what to leave alone

02 — Style the Plantscape

Create thoughtful plant compositions for living rooms, bedrooms, dining spaces, foyers, offices, lobbies, balconies and other interiors Decide plant placement, grouping, layering, height and density Pair plants with appropriate pots, planters, stands and accessories Consider colour, texture, leaf form, scale and visual weight Create relationships between multiple plants rather than treating each plant as an individual object Use negative space intentionally Create compositions that feel natural while remaining highly considered

03 — Curate Plants + Pots

Work with the horticulture team to select plants appropriate for the space Develop plant-and-pot combinations that complement the interior Understand how different pot shapes, finishes, colours, textures and materials affect the overall composition Recommend alternative plants or planter combinations when something isn't working visually Develop cohesive palettes across an entire home, office or project Help create distinctive plant styling languages for different client spaces

04 — Work With Interiors

Collaborate with interior designers, architects and the Pravaa design team Understand the existing design language and build upon it rather than competing with it Integrate greenery with furniture, lighting, artwork, flooring, walls and architectural features Participate in concept development and moodboards Help translate broader interior concepts into greenery and plant styling

Pravaa's project work already involves designing greenery as part of a larger environment — including terrace projects developed in collaboration with interior designers.

05 — Take the Design to Site

Participate in installations and final styling Work with installation teams to achieve the intended composition Adjust placements on-site when actual spatial conditions differ from drawings or renders Ensure pots, plants and supporting elements are positioned and finished correctly Conduct final styling and detailing before project handover Photograph and document completed work for the Pravaa portfolio

06 — Develop the Pravaa Visual Language

Research interiors, architecture, fashion, art, hospitality and contemporary design for inspiration Keep up with emerging trends in interior styling, biophilic design and plantscaping Discover new ways of combining plants, materials and objects Build references, moodboards and visual libraries Continuously develop Pravaa's approach to plant styling

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with very good taste.

Not simply someone who likes plants.

Someone who understands why something looks good.

You should:

Have a strong instinct for composition, proportion and scale Have an exceptional eye for colour, texture, form and materiality Understand contemporary interiors and different design languages Be highly observant about details Understand how objects relate to one another within a space Know when a composition needs more — and when it needs less Be able to create visual harmony without making everything feel overly symmetrical or predictable Have a natural interest in plants and how they can be used creatively within interiors Be curious about different plant forms, colours, textures and varieties Understand that plant styling still needs to respect light, space and plant health Be comfortable working with designers, horticulturists, vendors and installation teams Be confident presenting and explaining your creative decisions Have a high standard for finish

We're especially interested in people who draw inspiration beyond plants.

If you naturally notice interiors, architecture, fashion, art, objects, materials, hotels, restaurants, retail spaces or visual merchandising, that's a good sign.

We want someone whose visual vocabulary is broader than horticulture.

Qualifications

Degree / diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, Landscape Design, Styling, Visual Merchandising, Spatial Design or a related field Strong portfolio demonstrating styling, spatial composition or visual design Understanding of interiors, materials and spatial relationships Basic understanding of plants and their growing conditions Strong visualisation and presentation skills Experience with moodboards and design presentations Familiarity with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Sketch Up or similar is an advantage Experience in interior styling, visual merchandising, set styling, landscape design or plantscaping is preferred

Exceptional freshers are welcome to apply if they have an outstanding portfolio, strong visual taste and genuine curiosity about plants and interiors.

The Kind of Person We're Looking For

At Pravaa, we believe:

The right plant in the wrong place is still the wrong plant.

We are looking for someone who can see the difference.

Someone who can walk into a room and notice:

That plant is too heavy for this corner.

That pot is fighting with the flooring.

The composition needs height.

The room needs something softer here.

That plant would look incredible against that material.

That instinct is difficult to teach.

We're looking for it.

If you believe plants can be styled, composed and designed into a space, we'd like to meet you.
