Software Engineer III Java AWS Mainframe

<p>We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.  </p><p>As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the CONSUMER CARD TECHNOLOGY, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. </p><p><b>Job responsibilities </b>  </p><li>Implements well-defined software features and fixes using established patterns and team standards. </li><li>Writes secure, high-quality production code with appropriate unit/integration tests. </li><li>Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness. </li><li>Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation. </li><li>Participates in code reviews (giving and receiving feedback) to improve code quality and maintainability. </li><li>Assists with technical troubleshooting by following runbooks, logs, dashboards, and guidance from senior team members. </li><li>Contributes to documentation (design notes, operational procedures, support guides) and keeps them current. </li><li>Works with product partners and team members to clarify requirements and estimate work at the story/task level. </li><li>Supports CI/CD pipelines and helps resolve build/deploy issues with guidance. </li><li>Contributes to team ceremonies and helps maintain a strong culture of inclusion, ownership, and continuous improvement. </li><p><b>Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills  </b> </p><li>Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience </li><li>BE/BTECH degree or equivalent practical experience. </li><li>Proficiency in one or more programming languages, with working experience in Core Java and Spring (Spring Boot / MVC). </li><li>Working knowledge of REST APIs, microservices fundamentals, and basic distributed systems concepts. </li><li>Working experience with common dev/build tools such as IntelliJ/Eclipse, Maven, BitBucket/Git/Gitflow and test tooling (., JMeter or similar). </li><li>Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security. </li><li>Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices. </li><li>Basic experience with data stores and messaging (., SQL and exposure to Kafka / NoSQL concepts). </li><li>Understanding of SDLC, agile delivery, and engineering practices like CI/CD, security, and resiliency basics. </li><li>Ability to communicate clearly, learn quickly, and collaborate effectively within a team. </li><p><b>Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills  </b> </p><li>Exposure to AWS services (., ECS, EMR, RDS, Lambda, S3) and cloud-native deployment concepts. </li><li>Familiarity with front-end technologies (., React, AngularJS, Bootstrap) or willingness to learn. </li><li>Exposure to scripting/automation (., Python and/or Unix shell scripting). </li><li>Banking domain exposure (mainframe technologies like COBOL/JCL/DB2/IMS/VSAM/CICS) is a plus, not required. </li><li>Interest in AI/ML tooling or languages (nice-to-have). </li>
