Our collections work across Egyptian cotton, high thread-count cotton sateen, bamboo, muslin and other premium natural fabrics, combining contemporary design with sophisticated colours, textures, embroidery, quilting and surface detailing.
As we expand our collections and retail presence, we are looking for a talented Textile Designer specialising in Home Textiles who can translate ideas and trends into distinctive, commercially viable products.
Role OverviewWe are looking for a designer with a strong aesthetic sense who can participate in the complete journey from concept to finished product .
The role goes beyond creating prints or artwork. The designer will work on colour stories, embroidery, quilting, jacquard, textures, fabric combinations, trims, product detailing and collection development , while coordinating closely with sampling and production teams.
The ideal candidate should understand the difference between creating a beautiful design and creating a beautiful product that can actually be manufactured and sold successfully.
Key Responsibilities1. Collection & Concept Development- Develop seasonal and category-wise concepts for Beyond Beleaf.
- Create mood boards, colour stories and collection themes.
- Translate global and Indian design trends into commercially relevant collections.
- Build coordinated collections rather than designing individual products in isolation.
- Maintain a distinctive and consistent Beyond Beleaf design language.
Develop designs for:
- Bedsheets
- Duvet covers
- Duvets and comforters
- Pillowcases and shams
- Decorative cushions
- Throws
- Coordinated bedding collections
Work with design techniques including:
- Embroidery
- Quilting
- Jacquard
- Pintucks and pleating
- Ruffles
- Contrast panels and piping
- Borders and flange detailing
- Texture and surface manipulation
- Fabric combinations
Develop coordinated concepts for:
- Bath towels
- Hand and face towels
- Waffle towels
- Bathrobes
- Kids' bath products
- Muslin products
- Other textile-based home and lifestyle accessories
Ensure that colour and design stories can extend naturally across bedding and bath wherever appropriate.
4. Colour Development- Develop sophisticated seasonal colour palettes.
- Work confidently with Pantone TCX/TPG colour references .
- Create commercially balanced palettes covering neutrals, core colours and seasonal accents.
- Coordinate colours across different fabrics and product categories.
- Review lab dips and production colour submissions against approved standards.
- Create original embroidery motifs and placements.
- Develop quilting patterns suitable for premium bedding.
- Prepare artwork that can be converted into machine embroidery/quilting programmes.
- Work with vendors and production teams on stitch density, thread selection, scale and placement.
- Review embroidery and quilting strike-offs and recommend corrections.
The candidate should have a practical understanding of fabrics commonly used in premium home textiles, including:
- Cotton sateen
- High thread-count cotton
- Egyptian cotton
- Bamboo fabrics
- Muslin
- Jacquard
- Waffle structures
- Terry fabrics
- Textured and layered fabrics
The designer should understand how fabric construction, GSM, drape, shrinkage, finishing and hand feel influence the final design.
7. Sampling & Product Development- Prepare clear design specifications and tech packs for sampling.
- Coordinate with sampling, embroidery, quilting, dyeing, stitching and production teams.
- Follow samples from initial development through final approval.
- Check measurements, placement, colour, trims and workmanship.
- Maintain proper records of approved samples and specifications.
- Ensure corrections are incorporated before bulk production.
Every design should be evaluated not only aesthetically but commercially.
The designer should consider:
- Target customer
- Expected retail price
- Fabric and processing cost
- Production feasibility
- Minimum order quantities
- Material utilisation
- Colour combinations
- Retail presentation
- Scalability for bulk production
Designs should be distinctive enough to strengthen the brand but practical enough to manufacture commercially.
9. Trend & Market Research- Track Indian and international home-textile trends.
- Study developments in colours, materials, textures and surface techniques.
- Regularly review premium home and lifestyle brands.
- Visit exhibitions, stores and relevant industry events when required.
- Present relevant trends and recommendations to management before collection planning.
Maintain an organised digital and physical design library covering:
- Artwork
- Colour palettes
- Pantone references
- Fabric swatches
- Embroidery developments
- Quilting developments
- Lab dips
- Approved samples
- Tech packs
- Vendor developments
- Seasonal collections
Strong working knowledge of:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- CorelDRAW or equivalent design software
- Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
Knowledge of textile CAD, embroidery software, CLO 3D or other textile visualisation tools would be an advantage.
AI-assisted design and visualisation skills would be an added advantage , particularly for concept development, colour exploration and presentation.
Candidate ProfileWe are looking for someone who:
- Has 3–7 years of experience in textile/home textile design .
- Has a degree/diploma from NIFT, NID or another recognised textile/design institute , preferably specialising in Textile Design.
- Has strong experience in home textiles , preferably bedding.
- Has an excellent sense of colour, proportion and detailing.
- Understands fabrics and manufacturing processes—not just computer artwork.
- Can independently take a design from concept → sampling → correction → production .
- Has strong follow-up and coordination skills.
- Is comfortable working directly with vendors and production teams.
- Can balance creativity with deadlines and commercial requirements.
- Pays exceptional attention to detail.
A portfolio is mandatory.
Shortlisted candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Bedding collections
- Embroidery or surface developments
- Quilting/jacquard/textural work
- Colour palette development
- Original textile artwork
- Finished products developed from their designs
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate actual commercially produced work rather than only academic or conceptual designs.
